Food markets, celebrations of national cuisines and discount offers at gourmet restaurants take place throughout the year. Download the city’s gastronomic calendar below.
Here are some highlights.
Buenos Aires Market
A vibrant food market held regularly in different locations in the city and dedicated to healthy and organic produce, Buenos Aires Market has everything from fresh pastas to mouth-watering conserves.
Barrio Chino – Chinatown
Two little blocks along the street Arribeños (between Juramento and Olazábal) in the Belgrano neighbourhood are packed with Chinese restaurants, delis and supermarkets. Open every day, it’s the place to find noodles, curry pastes, oyster sauces, lemongrass, tofu and all sorts of imported foods from other countries.
Feria Masticar
Held every October in a huge open warehouse on the edges of Palermo Hollywood (Centro Dorrego, Zapiola 50), the Feria Masticar is a great opportunity to sample a range of BA’s finest restaurants at affordable prices and pick up yummy savory goods and wines at the same time.
Buenos Aires Food Week
This bi-annual festival celebrates the absolute best of the city’s gourmet cuisine. Top-class restaurants all over the city offer lunchtime and dinner discounts over two weeks in September.
National Cuisine Weeks
Peruvian, French and Italian cuisine are amongst popular cuisines annually celebrated with their own Food Weeks. Food markets, speciality restaurants and delis offer discounts to customers. Dates can be found in our gastronomic calendar.
Feria de Mataderos
This lively local market in the south-western corner of the city is essentially a gaucho (cowboy) fair, with a great folky feel and traditional gaucho food. It’s located on Av. Lisandro de la Torre and Av. de los Corrales, and open on Sundays and public holidays, 11am-8pm.
